The latest research has concluded that acupuncture is an effective treatment for plantar fasciitis.

Plantar fasciitis usually presents itself as pain on the bottom of the foot and heel. Sometimes excruciating pain that doesn’t seem to be fazed by any typical type of pain reliever.

In a controlled clinical investigation a group treated with acupuncture showed siginificant reduction in foot pain compared to those treated with traditional medications.

Another recent study proved that acupuncture is an effective form of relief for plantar heel pain.

Both studies concurred that acupuncture was more successful in improving the condition over a regime of non-steroidal, anti-inflamatory medications.

If you are faced with this condition my advise is try acupuncture first before you try that steroid shot in your foot.

Kansas City’s Premier Massage: Back and Bodyworks Welcomes Sarah Fruetel Master of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture

Yes, Back and Bodyworks has a new family member that we are very excited to share with you!

Sarah Fruetel MSOM received her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Chattanooga in Tennessee. During her undergrad she was inducted into the Tri-Beta Honor and Golden Key Society. She also won a Scholar in Residence Award while maintaining the position of the Secretary of University’s Martial Art’s Club. Her position as secretary allowed her to travel to China with her Tai ji instructor in 2000 and in 2004. Greatly inspired, Sarah decided to pursue the field of Chinese Medicine, moving to Boulder, CO to enroll at Southwest Acupuncture College. After completing the graduate program and national board exams, she now holds a degree for Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine, Certification in Clean Needle Technique, National Certification in Acupuncture and Herbology and licensed to practice in the state of Missouri. While working on her Master’s, Sarah was a part of the Acupuncture Association of Oriental Medicine, interned under two acupuncture and herbalists and worked in a pharmacy of Chinese herbs. Sarah has now lives in the Kansas City, area where her family is from, to share her passion in Chinese Medicine with the community. She is currently a member of the Acupuncture Association of Missouri.

In her spare time she loves to read, everything she can get her hands on but mostly sciences, novels and historical based themes. She enjoys exercising and internal cultivation including tai ji,a martial art practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits and qi gong, an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention. She also enjoys hanging out with her family and taking the family dog, Otis, for jogs.

At Back and Bodyworks Sarah will offer Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine.

We welcome Sarah with open arms.  She’s a very accomplished young woman with big heart and a genuine concern for helping others.

I had to chuckle as I was reading a friend’s post on Facebook about how she was insulted that some companies were sending her LOTS of email offering up a whopping 10% discount on Black Friday.  Then I thought about it and it’s true.. 10% for Black Friday is N O T H I N G.
